Who can open your Google Drive files? NeatDrive vs. Competitors & your AI assistant

If you've used Google Drive for a few years, some of your files are shared more widely than you remember. A link set to "anyone with the link" for a one-time handoff. A former client still listed as an editor. Google Drive's native interface doesn't give you a single view of all publicly shared files, so these sit unnoticed.
Several tools now fill that gap for a single Google account. And there's a newer question: if ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini can already connect to your Drive, do you need a separate tool at all? Here is what each option offers, taken from the vendors' own pages.

What the table shows
Every tool here lets you start free. Where they differ is what you can do after looking, and how you pay for it.
Some draw the free line at viewing. Overdrive's free plan, for example, marks its public-link and external-access features "View Only".
Pricing shapes vary: monthly, annual, a lifetime licence, or a short pass.
Focus varies. Some are built around storage — duplicates, large and old files. Others are built around sharing.
If you want to fix things once and be done, the one-time passes are NeatDrive's $19 for 30 days and Soluvery's $39 for 21 days — everything else is a subscription or a $188 lifetime licence.
Pick the one built for the question you're actually asking.
Where NeatDrive fits
NeatDrive is built around one question: who can open your files?
Free: every exposed file, listed by name.
$19 Drive Exposure Audit: one payment, 30 days to fix what it finds. No subscription, nothing to cancel.
$9/month Maintenance: recurring audits of the one Google Drive account you connect, if you'd rather keep checking. That's the lowest month-to-month price in the table; the cheaper per-month figures above are annual plans billed up front.
It's read-only by default. Every change is previewed, and nothing is applied unless you approve it. Revokes and renames applied from the Action Plan can be undone for 30 days.
The scope is deliberate: NeatDrive checks the one Google account you connect. It doesn't read other people's Drives, and it isn't a domain-wide Workspace audit.
"Can't I just ask my AI assistant?"
It's a fair question. All three major assistants connect to Google Drive, and their own help pages describe real capabilities:
ChatGPT connects to the files your Google account can already open. Where your permissions and workspace allow, it can create, update, move, share or delete files, and may ask you to confirm first.
Claude can search and read your Drive, view a file's permissions, and list recent changes. Each action it takes needs your explicit approval.
Gemini in Drive answers natural-language questions about your files and can suggest moving loose files into folders, with an Undo after the move.
These are good tools for what they're designed around: finding a file, summarising it, drafting from it, tidying it.
"Who can open my files?" is a different shape of job. It's answered by reading the sharing settings on every file, putting the exposed ones in one list, and keeping a record of each change so you can reverse it. None of the assistant help pages I read describes a whole-Drive sharing inventory, or an undo record for permission changes. A chat answers the prompt in front of it; an inventory is only useful once it's complete.
So use both. Ask your assistant to summarise the contract. Use a purpose-built tool to find out who else can open it.

Connect one Google account and see every exposed file by name, free. Nothing in your Drive changes unless you approve it.
