Google Drive Cleanup Tool — Find Duplicates & Free Up Storage

Drives don't get messy all at once. They accumulate — a duplicate here, a download there, a folder someone made in 2023 and never opened again. By the time it's a problem, nobody knows what's safe to delete.

What it finds

Duplicate files — exact and near-duplicate copies across your entire Drive, matched by MD5 hash rather than filename guessing. Keep the best copy, archive the rest. Storage you're paying for and not using — forgotten downloads, oversized media and old exports eating your quota, with a treemap showing where the space actually went. Stale content — files untouched for months or years, in folders nobody opens. Chaotic filenames — "Untitled", "Final_v2", "NEW_FINAL_really", buried three folders deep.

Why it's safe

The audit is read-only by default, every proposed change is shown to you first, spelled out row by row, and nothing changes unless you approve it. Nothing is deleted: files move to a quarantine batch inside your own Drive, and archived items are recovered from that batch. If you do delete, the in-app restore expires after 7 days while the file itself stays in Google Trash for 30 — the undo runs out three weeks before the file does. A bulk rename can't be undone once the post-apply drawer closes. Cleanup actions are designed to preserve file associations and shared links, every action is written to a full activity log you can export, and the audit reads metadata only — names, sizes, dates, owners, sharing settings. Content is read only for the optional naming and duplicate-detection features, and only on files you select.

While you're in there, check who can see it

The same scan that finds your duplicates also finds every file shared with "anyone with the link" and every external person or domain that still has access. Most teams arrive here for the storage and stay for the exposure report.

Start with the free audit

Read-only. No credit card. Nothing in your Drive changes until you approve it, and we'll tell you your true Drive size even if the free scan stops short of indexing all of it.
