What Drive's own tools can and can't show you
Drive's sharing view is per-file: you can check one document's permissions in two clicks. Drive's search helps more than most people know — the People filter's "Anyone with the link" option lists files with link sharing switched on. What it won't tell you is which folder share made a file public, which of those files look sensitive, or how to fix many at once — and Drive sends no alert when something becomes public.
What NeatDrive shows you
Publicly linked files, sorted so the ones that matter come first. Owner, full folder path, last modified date, file type and size — enough to decide without opening anything. Files whose names suggest tax documents, payroll, bank statements, contracts or ID are ranked to the top when they're also publicly shared. That intersection is the thing worth fixing today.
Revoking safely
Select what to fix and see exactly what each change does, row by row, before anything is applied — nothing changes unless you approve it. Fixing sharing deletes nothing: files move to a NeatDrive Archive folder inside your own Drive, and every action is written to a full activity log you can export.
How to find yours
The audit is free and read-only. The scan reads file metadata only — names, sizes, dates, owners and sharing settings. It cannot read what is inside your files. Two optional features — content-aware naming and a content-based duplicate check — read file contents, and only on files you choose to run them on, after you grant write access. Content-aware naming reads a short snippet; the duplicate check reads the whole file to compute a checksum in memory and keeps only the hash. NeatDrive also cannot send mail as you. Nothing in your Drive changes until you approve a specific action.
